About ManagingManagedCare.com
Frustrated with Managed Care?
ManagingManageCare.com is a resource and interactive blog operated by Dr. Jeff Kaplan. It is the place to debate or find answers to your questions about our country's broken health care system.
Please also see his weekly blog on Managed Care MDNG.com that succeeds six years with Managed Care Interface (pub., Medicom Intn’l). In these and related forums, Dr. Kaplan continues to address inequities created by our inequitable, inefficient and sometimes uncaring health care system.
About Dr. Kaplan Jeffrey Gene Kaplan, MD, MS
Dr. Kaplan is a practicing, Board-certified pediatrician, having been, for over thirty years, a physician executive of health plans, including Corp. Med. Dir. HSMC/HSA (1975-1991 in Syracuse, NY), Regional V.P. BCBS (Buffalo), and Nat'l V.P. of Util. Mgm't. Travelers (Hartford, CT). Seven years ago, Dr. Kaplan returned to the sanity of medical practice where, as he says, he is “no longer confused as to who he represents.”
“Jeffrey has written, edited, and managed a long-running, innovative column for my publication Managed Care Interface, which took the difficult road of evaluating managed care performance, but in the form of a running conversation (ie, Discussion Forum) with a group of physicians, attorneys, health policy analysts, and managed care executives. These monthly columns were always illuminating, showing stark contrasts in perspectives among the stakeholder groups. Jeffrey covered areas such as quality and cost effectiveness of care, unnecessary or wasteful care, and the underpinnings of the business of health care and medicine, which shaped the evolution of managed care. He produced this monthly column in a manner that was always entertaining, informative, and highly polished, despite extremely cantankerous participants and disjointed contributed opinions!”
